Travel Tips from Flight Crews
Here're some travel hacks you might want to consider the next time you fly in economy class:
Early bird doesn’t always catch the worm
Here’s the thing when you’re the first few people to board: you’d have to fall in line, look for your designated seat arrangement, and then rush in placing your luggage in the overhead bins onto settling down to avoid clogging the queue. Instead, be the last person to go on board. When you’re the last to board, everyone is seated and you may scout for extra seats at your disposal. Whether the extra seat is for your luggage or some legroom, it pays to be last. And if the plane is jam packed, don’t worry. It’s not like someone’s going take your designated seat assignment.
The perfect spot for you and your travel buddy
When booking a plane ticket for two, you guys still have the option to get any seat you wish. Well here’s one trick to score an extra seat: choose 1 window seat and 1 aisle seat of the same row. This would leave the middle seat empty, which a lot of people would try to avoid getting. Unless the plane will be full, you scored yourself an extra seat for you and your travel buddy. But if ever someone does take the middle place, just request to switch places and you’ll be just as happy being with them to your next destination.
Bring some snacks
Although during the course of the flight, the flight attendants will be serving you food, it won’t harm to bring your own snack as well. Most of the time, airline foods are very limited and there’s not enough option to choose from so it’s best to take with you some snacks especially on long hauls. A small bag of crisps, and a handful of fresh fruits; bag some snacks depending on your preference. Also, don’t forget to carry them with you on your flight. With the LunchPak insulated food carrier by JetPaks, it’s your ideal lunch bag while travelling to your next destination. Whether you store hot or cold food, its insulator can keep the temperature till you get to your next destination.
Hydrate yourself
The air pressure during flights is a big deal not just on the popping of your ears but also drying of your skin, and the uneasy feeling. So it’s always best to replenish yourself from time to time with water. It would help the flow of circulation on your body and fight dehydration as well. Bring an empty water bottle along with you to the airport and just ask the stewardess when on deck to have it filled with water and they would gladly do so.
Power hacks
Some airplanes don’t have electric outlets, which sucks because you would have to save as much battery on your phone until you get to your next destination especially during long hauls. But if you’re a heavy phone user consider getting yourself a power bank. The portable charger can help your phone extend its life until you get to a place where there’s an electrical plug. And if that gets empty too, try bringing a power strip. Then you can snag an outlet on your connecting flights with your multiple devices all at the same time.
Remember, getting yourself some economy plane tickets, doesn’t necessarily mean you’d have to sacrifice your comfort to be with the bulk of the crowd on the plane for the whole trip.
